UCLA Health Office of Legal Affairs: Public records actThe California Public Records Act ("PRA")(California Government Code § 6250 et seq.) is intended to give the public access to information in possession of public agencies.  The PRA provides that access to information concerning the conduct of the people's business is a fundamental and necessary right of every person in this state; that public records must be open to public inspection during regular business hours; and that every citizen has the right to inspect any public record except as otherwise provided in the PRA.

The UCLA Records Management & Information Practices Office handles all PRA requests for the UCLA campus and the UCLA Health.  Additional information about responding to Public Records Act requests can be found on their website.

Should a workforce member receive a PRA request, please promptly forward a copy of the request to the UCLA Records Management & Information Practices Office so that it may respond to the request in a timely manner.
